Dr. Mostafa Tazarv has been promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at South Dakota State University. He is the SDSU Site Director in the TriDurLE consortium and currently the PI on the research project Drone-Based Measurements for Bridge Field Testing – Development Phase. Congratulations, Mostafa!
Dr. Jenny Liu recently has been appointed a member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committee on Pavement Preservation — AKT20 from 2021-2024. TRB is one of seven program units of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, which provides independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation and conducts other activities to solve complex problems and inform public policy decisions. Dr. Liu has been actively involved in TRB activities. Currently she is also a member of TRB AKM80 Committee on Mineral Aggregates. Dr. Jenny Liu from the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Missouri S&T was invited to serve as associate editor of ASCE Journal of Cold Regions Engineering, which is a world’s leading peer-reviewed scientific journal in the general area of cold regions engineering published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Established in 1987, the topics of this journal include ice engineering, ice force, construction on permafrost and seasonal frost, cold weather construction, environmental quality and engineering in cold regions, snow and ice control, cold regions materials, and surveying and planning in cold regions. Dr. Jenny Liu’s Ph.D. student, Jun Liu, from the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at Missouri S&T has been awarded the 2020-2021 CEC Dean’s PhD Scholar Award in recognition of his scholarly productivity. The college of Engineering and Computing at Missouri S&T implemented the Dean’s Ph.D. Scholar award in the 2020-2021 academic year to honor its most productive Ph.D. students. There are eight awardees from six engineering departments within the college.
Dr. Xianbiao (XB) Hu, assistant professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, and his Ph.D. student Chris Yang Song of Missouri S&T are working with Kansas City planning officials to find the optimal locations for electric vehicle charging stations at streetlights. Their research was featured in two trade publications: Stamping Journal and Renewable Energy Magazine.
