Waheed Uddin Diversity Graduate Research Fellowship

The Waheed Uddin Diversity Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) intends to increase access and opportunities to graduate education for students from under-represented and under-served communities, and to increase graduate student diversity in the UTC TriDurLE. Selected research assistants will work with TriDurLE researchers to conduct research relevant to the USDOT strategic priority of “Improving the Durability and Extending the Life of Transportation Infrastructure.”

TriDurLE will fund the in-state tuition of Diversity GRFs, up to three GRFs per year, each supported for one year.  Successful applicants will be enrolled as full-time students at Washington State University (WSU) or other TriDurLE consortium member university; and this support will be matched by a TriDurLE researcher in the form of a Research Assistantship (exceptions can be made upon approval by the TriDurLE Director).

Deadline for submission is August 15, 2021.

Requirements:

  1. Applied and accepted as a master’s or doctoral degree-seeking student in a program that coincides with TriDurLE research focuses of infrastructure sustainability and life extension.
  2. Evidence of superior academic achievement (GPA, class rank, honors, extracurricular activities, or other distinguishing achievements).
  3. Member of one or more of the following groups: African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, Underrepresented AAPI (Asian American or Pacific Islanders), female in the physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics.
  4. Endorsed by a TriDurLE consortium member site director or researcher
