Case Western Reserve University team members led by Prof. Xiong (Bill) Yu, Frank H. Neff Professor and Interim Chair of Civil Engineering presented eight papers in podium or poster formats at the 100th Transportation Research Board (TRB) annual conference between January 12-16, 2020 at Washington DC. The topics of these papers covered a variety of innovative topics ranging for innovative materials, sustainable use of recycled materials, geomaterials, and data analytics and machine learning for infrastructure asset management, etc. Three of these papers are being evaluated for publishing by the Journal of Transportation Research Record. Xudong Fan, a Ph.D. student at Dr. Yu’s group, received the 3rd place student poster award during the student poster competition hosted together with the 10th Annual Workshop by the International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals (IACIP). Two other students, Jiajie Hu and Xijin Zhang, received student poster awards last year. Dr. Juncai Xu, a visiting professor from Hohai University, also delivered a presentation at the 10th IACIP annual workshop.

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) 99^th Annual Meeting was held on January 12-16, 2020, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington, D.C.

The Missouri University of Science and Technology team gave more than 10 presentations at the annual TRB meeting covering a wide range of topics on transportation infrastructure. Drs. Jenny Liu, Xiong Zhang and their research groups’ presentations showcased their substantial effort on advancing innovative sustainable materials for transportation infrastructure use in cold regions. Some examples included “Evaluation of Cracking Susceptibility of Alaskan Polymer Modified Asphalt Binders Using Chemical and Rheological Indices,” and “Characterizing Influence of Water Access Condition during Freezing on Resilient Behavior of Base Course Materials.” Read More.

Dr. Xianbiao Hu, Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering at Missouri S&T, received 2019 outstanding reviewer award at the Editorial Board Meeting of International Journal of Transportation Science & Technology (https://www.journals.elsevier.com/international-journal-of-transportation-science-and-technology/) on January 14, 2020. He was also appointed Associate Editor of the journal during the meeting. The journal recently received an impact factor of 3.87
